An examination of the relationship between financial performance and safety factors in the heavy trucking industry

Heavy trucks disproportionately contribute to road fatalities and injuries worldwide. Safety efforts reduce these undesired outcomes have mostly focused on regulating overt driver behaviors such as speeding fatigue, ignoring underlying systemic issues the financial performance of company. Nevertheless, there is evidence that pressures may lead organizations safety investments adopt payment policies implicitly pressure drivers drive faster work longer hours. This paper examines relationships between crash influential factors, including employment type, method, skills level, type load carried, technology adoption vehicle acquisition. Data collected from an online survey 69 Australian heavy trucking was analyzed using Correspondence Analysis methodology.
